FAQ and Policies
Following are some of the most common questions I get. If you have a question that is not answered here, please feel free to send me an email and ask away!
I ask that guests book online using the link below. I run this whole shebang, and it gets difficult to manage appointments when communicating via several channels. When you book your appointment, make sure to click “confirm”, and you will get an email confirming your appointment. If you don’t get an email, your appointment has not been confirmed on my end and I have not reserved time for your service. If you have a question or a problem booking, please email me and I will respond within 2 business days. I take all feedback to heart and I am trying to make the process as seamless as possible.
Can I bring my child/significant other/dog?
While I love kids, S/O’s, and dogs, I cannot guarantee their safety and the quality of my service at the same time. Please make arrangements for an attentive adult to watch your child, significant other, or fur-baby outside of the salon while you get your service. Significant others do not carry any weight with me in our consultation for your service; it’s your hair and YOUR identity we’re talking about, not theirs. ;)
If you are booking a haircut for a child, please specify in the message section when you book, and be prepared to stay for the duration of your child’s haircut.
I try to be as flexible as possible with your busy schedules because I know that sometimes life gets hectic. If you need to cancel your appointment, please get in touch at least 2 days in advance so I can make your slot available to someone else. I only get paid for services I provide, therefore in the event that you no show, I reserve the right to charge you up to 50% of the service you have booked.
I get it, life doesn’t always happen according to plan. When you show up late, it has a ripple effect throughout the rest of my appointments with other guests. Sometimes I can make up the time, and sometimes I can’t. If you’re running late, please call or text. I promise to do the same: if I am running more than 10 minutes late, I will make an attempt to reach out to you before your appointment to spare your time as much as possible. If you’re more than 20 minutes late, I will mark you as a No-Show and reach out to see if you would like to re-book, and I reserve the right to charge you up to 50% of the cost of your service. If tardiness is a consistent occurrence with you, I may add a late fee to the cost of your service. We’re on the same team and I’m here for you when you’re here for me!
Consultations: What service should I book?
If you want something really creative or out there and you’re not sure what to book, book a free 10 minute consultation! Your satisfaction is important to me and I include a thorough consultation at the beginning of each service, but sometimes it helps to have a day or so to think about your options before you take the plunge. During a consultation I can determine your hair type, condition, texture, and better yet, I can do a swatch test in an inconspicuous area to see how your hair responds to the service in question. If you have concerns during our consultation, that is the time to say so and course correct!
If you want more than one service, please refer to my service menu and select the option that works best. If none seem to do the trick, but we’ve worked together before, please book both services and I will follow up with you to confirm.
Please note that the latest I can book a double process (bleach+tone) is 3:00pm.
How long will my color last?
Professional hair color generally lasts from 6-8 weeks, depending on your haircare routine. Usually water temperature and chlorine are the biggest culprits with regard to fading, but other factors can contribute to the longevity (or lack thereof) of your hair color. The usual suspects tend to be medications, hormones, sulfates and waxes in drugstore shampoos (mainly Pantene and Head and Shoulders), and hot water.
I use Kevin Murphy color, which is a natural plant-based color. It is meant to be used in conjunction with Kevin Murphy shampoos, conditioners, and styling aids and your color will last longer if you are using professional products. If you come in for your color and then wash it down the drain with a drugstore shampoo, I cannot guarantee your color will last. Protect your investment and use the good products: your hair will thank you!
What is a color correction?
A color correction is a service that uses a variety of professional techniques to change the color of your previously colored hair 4 or more levels lighter or darker. These are intensive services and can last up to 4 hours. Sometimes I can achieve your desired result in one session, sometimes we will need two sessions (or more!). This all depends on the existing color, texture, and condition of your hair. Maintaining the integrity of your hair is my highest priority, so I use Olaplex and my vast knowledge of corrective techniques to select the path we should take for your hair. This will require an agreement on your end to follow the hair prescription I provide for you using the recommended professional products.
What is Balayage?
Balayage is a French word that literally means “sweeping”. It is a technique that involves painting color on your hair to create a lived-in look and it generally allows you to go longer in between highlighting services because it grows out without an obvious line of demarcation as compared to a traditional foil service. When you book a balayage, I will select which techniques to use to achieve your desired result based on our consultation. Balayage is an intense color service which generally takes between 3 and 4 hours.
What is Olaplex?
Olaplex is a bond-building product that is added to your color or used as a stand-alone treatment to fortify the disulfide bonds in your hair (that’s what keeps it strong and feeling healthy). I use Olaplex in all of my color correction and highlighting services.
What should I do if I’m unhappy with my service?
I can’t do anything about it if you don’t tell me! It might feel awkward, but I’ve got thick skin and my goal is to give you hair that works for you and your lifestyle. If you are unhappy with your service, please reach out to me within 5 days of your service, let me know what you are unhappy with, and we can schedule a re-do. I will do what is in my power to make it right for you. That said, if you left happy with what we discussed in our consultation and then change your mind after you get home because your child/significant other/dog doesn’t like it, that does not constitute a re-do.
